Relax with your labor

I breathe in energy and light and exhale all tension and worries. Breathe in warm light filling your body, breathe out all tension. Breathe in breathe out . Let all the tension in every part of your body be released as you breathe in light, feel the relaxation  Visualize your cervix opening. You can do this.

Prepare your mind and body for childbirth

Many of  us worry about the work of childbirth, being painful ,long, and not being able to do it with out interventions. My philosophy first and foremost is to understand the process , what is normal in labor and how to prepare your mind and body for this event. Much like an athlete who runs marathons or triathlon they do not go to race day with out training. When you know you have trained then you will  have the confidence to trust in your body. You can do hard work and make it look easy.

My client told me that her nurse said that she couldn’t be too far along because she “looked too relaxed” My client then said well isn’t  this what I  am supposed to be doing, relaxing through the contractions? She was 9 cm!

*Get your information through positive childbirth education classes

*Understand your options

*Prepare prior to labor by exercises such as squats, butterflies, pelvic rocks

*Walking , prenatal yoga, &swimming are all great for endurance training

*Stay hydrated, eat well and get your rest

*Balance is the key.

Childbirth, What is a doula?

Doula –(Du-La) Etymology: modern Greek Female helper

For me being at a birth is a true miracle and honor. I  have been truly blessed to be in attendance of so many beautiful births which were not only transforming for the families I assisted but for me as well. Here are some tips I can pass along to you to help decide if a doula is something you are considering for your birth.

Having doula at your birth can complete your circle of people who will assist with ensuring a healthy an peaceful birth Your doctor, or midwife, the nurses, your husband/partner, your family, your friends, your community support groups.

On one side of you is the person who loves you most and the other side is the person who knows birth best. You are in the middle and gain the strength, security and power by having those two pillars on either side.

Clinical studies

A doula can help reduce the mother’s need for pain medication

A doula can reduce the need for labor intervention and c-sections

A doula can greatly enhance having a positive birth experience!

have found that having a doula at your birth can result in shorter labor with fewer complications

Modern doula a woman experienced in childbirth, who provides advice, information, emotional support and comfort to woman before, during and after birth.
